Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the VFX Vault plugin ("Plugin") and related services ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Plugin.

2. Description of Service

VFX Vault is a third-party Roblox Studio plugin that provides:

• Cloud storage for visual effect (VFX) data created in Roblox Studio
• Tools to save ParticleEmitters, Beams, Trails, and other VFX instances
• Share codes to allow other creators to use your VFX
• A library to organize and manage your saved effects

3. Roblox Platform Compliance

By using VFX Vault, you agree to:

• Comply with Roblox Terms of Use
• Comply with Roblox Community Standards
• Not use VFX Vault to violate any Roblox policies
• Not use VFX Vault to exploit, harm, or abuse the Roblox platform

4. Account and Authentication

4.1 Account Requirements

To use VFX Vault, you must:

• Have a valid Roblox account
• Authenticate through Roblox OAuth
• Link a Discord account for support features
• Be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)

4.2 OAuth Authorization

When you connect your Roblox account:

• You authorize VFX Vault to access only your basic profile (User ID) through Roblox's official OAuth 2.0 system
• You can revoke access at any time via Roblox Account Settings > Security > Authorized Apps
• We never request access to sensitive data (Robux, inventory, messages, etc.)

Effect of Revocation: If you revoke VFX Vault's OAuth access through your Roblox settings:

• The Plugin will no longer be able to authenticate your identity
• You will lose access to your VFX library until you re-authorize
• Your stored VFX data will remain on our servers unless you request deletion
• To fully delete your account and data, contact us via Discord before or after revoking access

4.3 API Key Security

Your Responsibilities:

• You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key
• You are responsible for all activities that occur using your API key
• Never embed your API key in client-side code, public repositories, or shared scripts

If Your API Key Is Compromised:

• Immediately regenerate your API key using the /getapikey regenerate Discord bot command
• Review your VFX library for any unauthorized changes
• Report suspected abuse to us via Discord

We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to protect your API key.

5. Acceptable Use

5.1 Permitted Uses

You may use VFX Vault to:

• Save and organize your own VFX creations
• Load your saved VFX into Roblox Studio projects
• Share VFX with other creators using share codes
• Use public VFX shared by others (with attribution when requested)

5.2 Prohibited Uses

You may NOT use VFX Vault to:

• Store malicious code, exploits, or harmful content
• Upload content that violates Roblox Community Standards
• Store content that infringes on intellectual property rights
• Bypass rate limits or abuse the service
• Access other users' private data
• Use the service for any illegal purposes
• Store content unrelated to VFX (general file storage)
• Attempt to reverse engineer or exploit the service
• Resell access to the service

6. Content Ownership

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of VFX data you create and upload. By using VFX Vault, you grant us a limited license to:

• Store your content on our servers
• Serve your content through the Plugin
• Display your public content to other users

6.2 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring your uploaded content:

• Does not violate any third-party rights
• Complies with Roblox Terms of Use
• Does not contain prohibited content

7. Service Limits

7.1 Storage Limits

• Default storage: 1MB per account
• Maximum per VFX entry: 250KB
• Maximum entries per share code: 2,000

7.2 Rate Limits

• Create/Update/Delete operations: 20-30 requests/minute
• Read/List operations: 60 requests/minute
• Exceeding limits results in temporary blocks (HTTP 429)

8. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee:

• 100% uptime or uninterrupted service
• Error-free operation
• Permanent availability of the service
• Protection against data loss

Service Changes: We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. This includes changes to features, storage limits, rate limits, or complete service termination.

Data Loss: We are not liable for any loss of your VFX data, whether caused by service interruptions, technical failures, security incidents, or service discontinuation. We strongly recommend maintaining local backups of all important VFX.

No Compensation: You will not be entitled to any refund, credit, or compensation for service interruptions or data loss.

9. Termination

9.1 By You

You may stop using VFX Vault at any time. To delete your account and data, contact us via Discord.

9.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Violation of Roblox Terms of Use
• Abusive behavior or service abuse
• Any reason at our discretion

9.3 Data Retention Upon Termination

When your account is terminated or you request deletion:

• Within 30 days: All personally identifiable information (Roblox User ID, Discord User ID, API key) will be permanently deleted
• Immediately: Your VFX data, share codes, and metadata will be deleted
• Backup retention: System backups may retain encrypted copies for up to 90 days for disaster recovery, after which they are permanently purged

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• We are not liable for loss of data, profits, or goodwill
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any)

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VFX Vault and its operators from any claims arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your content
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of Roblox Terms of Use

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
